Biography of Theodore S.
Celeste
Ted Celeste has dedicated more than 30 years to real estate
related activities. He has been involved in selling, managing, marketing,
building, and restoring real estate in Ohio, Florida and New Mexico.
As a developer, broker and executive, Ted served as
President of National Housing Corporation, a Cleveland development firm
specializing in housing for Senior Citizens; President of New Town Housing,
a redeveloper of urban property in Victorian Village; and President of
Celeste & Associates Real Estate, a Grandview brokerage and development
company.
Ted has sold homes in the Central Ohio area since 1972, in
German Village, Victorian Village, Italian Village, Grandview, Bexley, Upper
Arlington, Worthington, Hilliard and New Albany. He has built 27 units of
energy efficient homes in Victorian Village. These homes, built during the
1970’s, were examples of early urban in-fill housing that since has made the
Victorian Village area a well-known success story.
During that same period Ted was involved in buying and
restoring older brick multi-family units in the Italian Village
neighborhood. His efforts in the area included a stint as the President of
the Italian Village Society, during the formative years of that
organization, and service on the Godman Guild Settlement House Board.
A wealth of experience in the real estate field has prepared
Ted well for responding to the needs of those with whom he works. His
personal attention to client-requirements has brought Ted many compliments
and repeat business. During the 1990’s Ted served on the Ohio State
University Board of Trustees, and in 1998-1999 chaired the Board. His tenure
with the University gave Ted a special understanding of the workings of OSU
and prepared him for a unique niche in his sales role. Ted has helped many
new relocating OSU faculty get acquainted with the Central Ohio area and
find homes that meet their specific needs.
Ted has also been very active in the central Ohio community
recently, with service on the business advisory committee for the Grandview
Schools, a governing board member of First Community Church, and
President of the Grandview Marble Cliff Chamber of Commerce.
Ted and his wife Bobbie served in the U.S. Peace Corps
teaching elementary school in the Fiji Islands from 1969-1970. He grew up in
Lakewood, Ohio, and received his bachelor’s degree in psychology from the
College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio. Ted and Bobbie came to Central Ohio
in1971. For the past 20 years, the Celeste family (including their two
daughters, Christiana, Grandview Class of 1991 and Liz, Grandview Class of
2000) has made Grandview their home.
